Wow! This is the 10th volume of Music Memes. Yes, I am just stealing memes and reposting them on my site. No, it isn’t totally clear why I decided to start doing this. I just wanted to play around with internet traffic, grabbing eyeballs online, and ‘growing an audience’ (eye roll).
I am still thinking of ways to go beyond music memes. Maybe regular memes? Video game memes? Maybe I can start blogging about life in general? Post twitch clips now that I’m a gamer.
Better late than never! I wasn’t keeping great track of July’s releases, so the playlist is a little short this month. Standouts: Galen Tipton, Riley the Musician, and of course, the long awaited 100 Gecs and the Tree of Clues.
Finally another music meme dump…it’s been a while for the Music Memes series. Starting off with some very low tier but [OC] pics. Gengar with lips ‘n’ lashes a la so many meme faces and a Gwen Stefani x Rina Sawayama face mashup. I made these to accompany some VERY AMATEUR mixes you can see on my soundcloud (which I’m hesitant to actively promote lol). I’m pretty proud of the track “Reminds Me of Gengar” which is a 10-ish minute mix of Kim Petras, Red Velvet, Fraxiom and more.
Starting and ending this meme dump with Arca. This is going to be the lowest effort meme dump yet. Adding zero captioning or fresh perspectives. Anything beyond just uploading and posting will cause me…what’s the word…
As of last month, I got ~500 page views across this whole site. It’s a pretty small number, but I started this site to see and experience for myself what it is like producing content and growing an audience. Even if small, I feel like I should use it responsibly.
The state of America, particularly police brutality, and America’s slide into authoritarianism, is horrifying. How can I post music memes and playlists when Rome is burning? The kpop stans already beat me there. It may feel trivial, but I’m choosing to highlight black artists and a few places to donate to. Silence = Death.
Finally put in the time and worked on a pop mix. tl;dr I bought a Roland DJ 202 Controller a year ago and I am just now putting in the time to learn it. The mix is 8 tracks in 13 minutes spanning the PC Music-to-Poptimist spectrum. Nothing too fancy, but I’m proud of the result. I feel compelled to say “follow me on soundcloud.”
